Project overview

London Zoo

This world-famous wildlife sanctuary has stood in London's Regents Park since 1828, and for a number of years it has been home to a family of Western Lowland Gorillas. Their accommodation needed refurbishment, and we were contracted to strip it out, demolish the external compounds and ancillary buildings, and remove internal structural walls.

Scope of works

Inside the Build.

London Zoo, on site 1

That included installing all the temporary works needed to hold the structure while those walls came out. We carried out the works safely and successfully, without any disturbance to the local wildlife.

FAQs

Thinking of Something Similar?

Call 01424 830613 and describe the site. We will tell you straight whether it is the same kind of job.

Who deals with the waste and the paperwork?+

We do. Material is segregated on site where there is space, suitable arisings are crushed and reused where the specification allows, and everything that leaves travels under the waste duty of care with transfer documentation you keep. Hazardous material is handled separately and consigned to a site authorised to take it.

Can you work on a site that stays open or occupied?+

Yes, and a lot of our work is exactly that. It changes the sequence rather than the outcome: tighter exclusion zones, phased working so one part stays usable, dust and noise controlled at source, and agreed hours for the noisy operations. It usually takes longer than an empty site, and the programme should say so from the start.

Do you take on smaller jobs too?+

Yes. The projects shown here are the larger packages because they show the range, but plenty of our work is a single structure coming down, one extension foundation, a drainage run or an underpinning scheme on one wall. The same survey, sequencing and paperwork apply whatever the size.
