West Hill Road
At West Hill Road, we have undertaken a significant overall site reduction, successfully removing over 600 lorry loads of muck away from site to achieve the required formation levels for the development. This large-scale earthworks operation has allowed us to establish the correct reduced levels across the site, enabling the progression into the main construction phase for the 10 semi-detached townhouses.
Scope of works
Inside the Build.
Our works to date have included the full reduced level dig, preparation and formation of the site access road including associated drainage installation, and excavation of 8 out of the 10 residential plots. These works have been carefully coordinated to ensure the site is properly graded, stable, and ready for follow-on trades.
In addition, we have commenced works on the crib wall foundation, which is now nearing completion and ready for the specialist contractors to carry out the installation.

Do you work to our engineer's design?+
Yes, and on most jobs of this type that is exactly how it works. Foundation, piling, temporary works and retaining designs come from the project engineer and we build to them, flagging anything on site that does not match what the drawing assumed. Where you have no engineer yet, we will tell you at what point you will need one.
What happens if the ground is not what everyone expected?+
It gets raised straight away rather than quietly worked around. Unexpected made ground, water, contamination, an old slab or a service in the wrong place all change the method, and sometimes the design. We stop, record what has been found, and agree the way forward with you and the engineer before carrying on.
Can you work on a site that stays open or occupied?+
Yes, and a lot of our work is exactly that. It changes the sequence rather than the outcome: tighter exclusion zones, phased working so one part stays usable, dust and noise controlled at source, and agreed hours for the noisy operations. It usually takes longer than an empty site, and the programme should say so from the start.
