Project overview

St Paul's Cathedral School

St Paul's Cathedral School sits in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral, and the school was being refurbished. We were contracted to carry out the asbestos removal and strip out works, and to install the temporary works needed for structural elements to be removed.

FAQs

Thinking of Something Similar?

Call 01424 830613 and describe the site. We will tell you straight whether it is the same kind of job.

How do you price work like this?+

From a site visit and whatever information already exists, such as drawings, structural reports, asbestos surveys or ground investigation. You get a written quote setting out what is included, what is excluded and what would change it. Where something genuinely cannot be known until the ground is opened, we say so rather than burying it.

Can you work on a site that stays open or occupied?+

Yes, and a lot of our work is exactly that. It changes the sequence rather than the outcome: tighter exclusion zones, phased working so one part stays usable, dust and noise controlled at source, and agreed hours for the noisy operations. It usually takes longer than an empty site, and the programme should say so from the start.

How long does a project like this take?+

It depends on the size of the package, the ground, the access and how much has to be done in sequence rather than at the same time. Notices also take real time: demolition needs one served on the council, and party wall matters run to their own timetable. We would rather give you a date that holds than an optimistic one.
